 Georgia Cosmetology Continuing Education
Cosmetologist, Nail Technicians, & Estheticians must take 5 hours of Continuing Education. 3 hours must be a Health & Safety Course including the DTAE curriculum, the other 2 hours may be filled with courses of your choice. CE courses online will be allowed as a means of acquiring your CE, after the courses are properly registered with the board.
6 month late renewal period for individuals who miss the renewal period
License expiration date:
- Cosmetologist - March 31 of even years
- Nail technicians - August 31 of odd numbered years
- Estheticians - August 31 of odd numbered years

Reciprocity:
Yes, the Georgia State Board of Cosmetology does not reciprocate with California, Connecticut, District of Columbia, Florida (unless licensed prior to August 1986), Hawaii, Illinois (unless licensed prior to December 1984), Oregon, Mississippi (do not reciprocate nail license ), New York (unless licensed prior to June 2001), Puerto Rico, South Carolina (do not reciprocate nail technician) and the Virgin Islands. For all other states, reciprocity may be granted or denied on an individual basis in accordance with the law.
