State Requirements for Cosmetologists

Cosmetology Required Hours: 1500
Nail Technology Required Hours: 750
Esthetics Required Hours: 1500

Barber Required Hours: Not Regulated

Reciprocity: Yes, must show proof of licensure in your current state and pay a fee of $100. If you have been licensed for at least five years or have passed a board approved practical and written exam, no exams are required. If you have been licensed less than five years or have not passed a board approved exam, you may be required to pass both a practical and written exam.

Renewal: Personal licenses must be renewed by the last day of your birth month in odd-numbered years. $80

Continuing Education Requirements: 16 hours every 2 years by birth month.
